THE PROBLEM
What problem is your organization solving? Why do you think this is a problem and how urgent is the
problem? (Include statistics or case study summaries to justify that this is a problem that exists)
THE SOLUTION
What is your solution to the problem? How are you going to implement the solution? Why is this a
solution? (It is important to benchmark or compare your solution to any other solution if any,
available in your industry that seeks to solve a similar problem you are solving)
MARKET SIZE & VALUE OF THE MARKET
What is the size of the market or the potential size of the opportunity you are seeking to explore? Are
there any existing market leaders? What is the value of the market globally and locally?
THE COMPETITION
Are there any competitors? If yes, who are they and how do they compete? (i.e., what variables or
factors do they compete on e.g., price, market share, location, service offering, delivery, etc.) If there
are no current competitors, explain why you can succeed in this blue ocean.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
What are your competitive advantages (i.e., why should people come to you instead of the
competition?) why are you unique? What can you do differently or better for your customers or to
achieve profitability?
THE PRODUCT/SERVICE
What are the features and benefits of your product or service? (Hint: Use images of samples of your
product or service in action.)
TRACTION
What is your share of the market? (How much of the market have you captured? how frequently do
you make sales, how many distribution channels do you have? What market tests have you
conducted for your product or service and what were the findings? Do you have any customer
feedback or reviews? (This is where to include them if you do), what is your business’ growth rate
year-on-year?
BUSINESS MODEL
How will your organization make impact (if it’s an NGO) or how will it make money (if it’s a for-profit)?
How will you acquire and retain customers? How will you convince or influence customers to make
purchasing decisions?
FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS/FORECAST SLIDE
When will your business break-even and become profitable? What is your burn rate (how long will it
take for you to burn out or run out of your initial capital till your next fundraising round?) This is
usually calculated by subtracting your expenses from revenue and shows how much cash you need to
continue operating for a period. (Hint: represent your financials graphically to make your pitch deck
presentable)
OTHER INVESTORS
How will your organization make impact (if it’s an NGO) or how will it make money (if it’s a for-profit)?
How will you acquire and retain customers? How will you convince or influence customers to make
purchasing decisions? (Hint: Insert a filled business model canvas in this slide)
INVESTMENT ASK
How much money are you asking for using this pitch deck? What are you going to use the money for?
(Hint: Represent these graphically, showing the current monetary value of your business, and how
much your business will be worth if you get this funding from this pitch)
TEAM
Who are the people on your team? What qualifications or experience do you possess to succeed in
this business?
